Another LCWRA back pay question - sorry!

in Universal Credit (UC)
Following an accident on 27/7/22 I applied for UC on 01/08/22 and submitted a sick note dated 27/7-27/8. I continued submitting sicknotes until 31/1 when I received a letter via my journal confirming that (following an assessment) I had been awarded LCWRA. I can see from my statement that the extra money will be paid in February. I am unsure about the months you have to wait. My AP is 1st-31st. Am I entitled to any back pay? Thanks.

    There’s a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. Providing you continued to send fit notes the whole time without any gaps.

    Your waiting period will be Aug to Nov… LCWRA starts from Nov 1st to Nov 31st and first payment would be Dec 7th.

    Any money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money.

    Thank you for your quick response. Is money owed something I have to chase or will they issue it automatically?

    It often takes a few weeks sometimes longer to pay what is owed. 

    They need to recalculate your statements first to work out exactly what is owed. Once this is done you’ll receive a letter on your journal telling you how much they owe and it will be paid into your bank. 

    Leave it a few weeks and if you don’t hear anything then put a message on your journal under the payment section to ask about the money you’re owed.

    The above information is assuming you’re not claiming UC with a partner that already receives the LCWRA element on your claim.
