Hello all, I have just recently changed over from ESA To UC I’m due my first payment on Friday. I was looking through my online statement and it’s says there deducting me £77.34 for ‘Not being entitled to esa’ I’ve asked my work coach about this and I can’t get my head around it apparently it’s called a ‘crossover’ but it states everywhere online that when apply for UC your entitled to a last payment of ESA. Hope someone can help explain to me what this is as they don’t explain to you very well. Thankyou

When you transfer from ESA to UC any income related ESA you were claiming will continue for 2 weeks. Sometimes they may overpay you and if this happens it will be deducted from your UC. Whether you were overpaid will depend on the date you claimed UC and the dates of your usual ESA payments. If part of your ESA was contributions based this will continue and be deducted from your UC.0
