If you make a claim with esa can't I get n emergency payment upfront whilst waiting on a decision

    ESA is a contribution based benefit and I don’t think you can get an advance.

    Have you checked entitlement to UC?

    Hello @louise_tivenan I'm sorry to read what's been happening, as calcotti mentioned I don't think you can get an advance on ESA.

    Is there anything you're particularly struggling with at the moment, like having enough money for food and bills?

    Struggling to get the food you need must be really tough. We have a page on accessing free food and food banks, which you might find helpful to read. This includes some information on getting free or cheap food without a referral, as well as a with a referral. If you're struggling with your energy bills, our Disability Energy Support service may be able to help you. 

    We also have some information pages about getting help with energy bills, which I’d encourage you to read.
