I was claiming Carer's Allowance and Universal Credit but last month's universal credit payment that I got was just only £12.67 and I SUPPOSED to live on that for a whole month and I have been claiming Carer's Allowance for caring for my Step Dad and last week's Carer's Allowance and this week's Carer's Allowance payment's have been put on hold and I am really and truly so very very struggling for money as it is right now as well and I have had a DS829M Form from DWP Carer's Allowance department because they want some more information about me caring for my Step Dad and I really and truly DO NOT know WHY they have sent me this form for as well and I have phoned them to ask them and they still haven't even told me why at all either as well.

When claiming UC as well as carers allowance there's no financial gain because the carers allowance is deducted in full from any UC entitlement. Your UC should also include the carers element of £168.81/month. Your UC payment of £12.67 tells me that this element isn't included. Do you have any other deductions from your UC? Because even with the carers allowance deduction £12.67 seems to low.

I have no idea what that form is related to because i can't find any information about it and there's nothing on the internet to tell me what it is. What information are they asking for? Do you care for him for at least 35 hours per week?

Hi @HelenLauraLou34 and a warm welcome to our online community, how are you today?

I'm so sorry you've received this small amount to live off. How are you coping? Do you have enough to get by on and buy essentials such as food, etc?

Also, could you please provide us with the information mentioned by Poppy? What does the letter say at the top?

Please do reply so we can help you through this difficult situation. Also, just to note, I've amended the title of your thread and moved it to our Universal Credit (UC) category to make it more visible to others.

    Wishing you all the best.
