Who can I go to after pain killers, exercise, steroid injections ,tens, disability aids and loads of GP consultations and GP's advice to go toA+E if symptoms get worse? Excruciating pain and no relief from anyone and it's been since August and it's now March.Should I go to Private medicine? This is now stopping me from any quality of life as I sit in a chair and can't do anything!

Hi @Littletish123 welcome to the forum. As I have spine problems I understand how you are feeling. Have you tried different medications with your gp?
It takes alot of trial and error with different meds until you find one that helps. Have you had a mri when you saw consultant? To see what's going on and a plan going faward.0 -
Bless you @Littletish123 and welcome to the group.
Stenosis is no joke with some of us, i really do feel your pain, can you have any operations with yours ? I know there are other things the NHS is offering like an implant that supposed to help with pain relief, but in my area it's one of those post code meds and the waiting time is years, no help when we need help now, but as Sandy has said go back to your Doctors and see if you need to change your pain meds, as i know it's very much trial and error to see which one works.
When your ready have a look around the site, we have some Categories were others talk about their methods for helping with pain. Good Luck0 -
Hello @littletish123
I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I echo going back to speak to your GP and I wonder, if they say go to A&E when the pain is so bad, could they refer you to the pain clinic? Unless that is another route you have already been down.0 -
Depending on your age surgery might be an option. I have had chronic pain for a long time now and I've been told to manage the pain through drugs, exercise, weight loss, and a positive attitude. You could explore acupuncture or CBT cognitive behaviour therapy0

You could explore acupuncture or CBT cognitive behaviour therapyI too have been told this; I have lumbar & cervical spondylosis (aka arthritis of the spine aka degenerative disk disease).I get really rattled inside when a Dr or a Nurse Practitioner (especially one that needs 2 seats to sit on (yes, I`ve been in this position before)) say "your weight won`t help your condition".What they conveniently ignore is the fact that I can`t exercise because of my condition, therefore I put weight on.

Yes, I totally agree Cartini. By telling me to manage the pain it rather implies that options like surgery are out of the question for me (I'm 62) This is a depressing thought as it requires coping with a lot of severe pain and adapting to wheelchair life to maintain any sort of independence0
