The same person can't claim both DLA and PIP at the same time. Do you both claim a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care? If so do any other adults live with you?

If it's only you that claims PIP which includes daily living then your wife can claim carers allowance if she looks after you for at least 35 hours per week. The carers allowance will be deducted in full from your ESA but they will then add a carers premium. You'll be better off by £38.85/week.

Also if you're the main claimant of the ESA then your wife will not be receiving any NI credits towards her state pension because only the main claimant will receive them. Claiming carers allowance will mean she will receive class 1 NI credits.

Daily living is part of PIP. You won't be worse off. As advised your ESA will reduce but they will add the carers premium of £38.85/week. Carers allowance will then pay your wife either weekly or 4 weekly, which ever she chose when she claimed.
In total you'll be £38.85/week better off.
