Employer overpayment repayment and UC

Hi all
I've been on long term sick now from work since September 2022, with no imminent return. Since December my pay has been a nightmare, they realised they had overpayed my CSP, so deducted it from my December pay leaving me with zero income. The following month I still owed hundreds, so zero pay again. In February, I only owed £100 so my SSP had a reduction and received around £235 for the month.
Because however my NET pay said that I earned my normal amount, my UC has been severely affected and I've been living off around £900 a month to pay rent, all bills and feed my children since December.
My question really is, is it right that my UC is based on my net pay even if it isn't what I actually took home with thr repayments ? Because what I've actually been taking home is zero

Yes it's correct UC is based on earnings received each month. Although you didn't actually receive it, this was because you owed your employer some money which needed to be repaid back. Your UC would still be reduced because of that, if it wasn't then your UC would be more than what you were actually entitled to.

UC takes into account your gross earnings minus NI, income tax and pension contributions.enayohemi said:My question really is, is it right that my UC is based on my net pay even if it isn't what I actually took home with thr repayments ? Because what I've actually been taking home is zero0
