Hi, my name is Aznarder! Pip and 'Lump Sum' call

Hi, suffering severe mental health issues for the last few years & had a pip assessment on Feb 27th - had a random call in March 10th asking if I can handle a lump sum were I to be awarded pip - how many others have had this call that says no decision made but can you handle a lump sum?

    Hi and welcome to the community 

    This is a normal call they make to ensure there wouldn't be an issue with managing a lump sum

    This is common call to people that have a vulnerability marker on their PIP claim, it usually means you been awarded at least £2000 backpay.

    Thanks, the call was just an odd thing in my opinion to say no decision has been made but can you handle a lump sum - rather gaslighting language. Cheers for the reply.

    They very rarely call about managing large amounts of money unless you've been awarded, the same thing happened to my husband and they also wouldn't tell him if he's been awarded,but 5 days later he was paid. I cannot guarantee you have been successful but check your bank account in 3-5 days just in case. Let me know what happens?

    Hi, I received the following txt at 8am today  - 

    We have awarded you PIP. We have sent you a decision letter explaining the award. Please allow 2 weeks to receive this. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.

    It sounds like you've had a relatively quick timeline from the point of making a claim, to your award and receiving back pay, I hope it helps make life easier for you.

    Very true  - I'm Very aware of not generalising but of late a few people I've seen online who  have had rather quick turnovers of the PIP  process, one can never predict the behaviour of government bureaucrats! 😀
