I am a black taxi driver and constantly struggling to drop disabled passengers to their address in Lambeth London where a school street operation is in force, how do the disabled community feel about this discrimination

Hello and welcome to the community @paullovell1 and thanks for your query. I've edited your post to say 'How', now :)

I wonder, could you explain what a "school street operation" is? I'm not familiar with term, so I just want to make sure I understand fully.

Hi a school street is basically a street with a school and the road is closed to all traffic in the morning and afternoon at set times, this is designed for child safety, parents just park in the nearest street, if your a resident you have to apply for a permit linked to your vehicle, my issue is being a taxi driver I can't drop passengers to their door in certain London boroughs without receiving a fine, this is causing a stir with disabled passengers.

Hi @paullovell1 welcome to the forum,  I would of thought a taxi would of been exempt, if not I can see how that would cause an issue for your passengers.

I lived in a school street. No one took any notice of the limitations regarding driving, delivery etc. It was a total waste of time and money but it made the council look good. As does the 20 mph speed limit imposed all over my borough (Islington). No-one keeps within 20 mph. These petty rules are just plain ridiculous. The council is now busy banning bqs in parks. People live in flats, they want to socialise and having a bq in a park is good for the entire family.
