Pip assessment really short?

Hey everybody!
I’ve recently applied for pip (January) and today had an unknown caller from what I believe was independent assessment services (she stated from pip) for my assessment on the phone, I had no prior text to say anybody was calling so caught me of guard although my answers were the same as on my form.  she asked questions and seemed quite sympathetic but the call was only 11 minutes long?!
Is this a good or bad sign? Most things I’ve read the assessments have been 1 hour+
I had a text from dwp a couple of hours later to say they’ve ‘received my written report for my pip assessment’ and will be in contact within 8 weeks with a decision

I’m full of anxiety and worry thank you

Hi @libann - & welcome to the community. Normally you'd get a letter advising the date of your assessment, & these can be anything from 20-120 mins. As this wasn't the case, then perhaps the assessor had all the info they needed apart from today's queries. It's possible this was therefore a 'paper assessment,' as they didn't need to go through the more common process. That would likely be a good sign, so try not to worry.

Hey :) Thank you for the above, although it’s been quite fast moving the not knowing is awful isn’t it
The only text I received prior to my call today was a letter to say hello and that they are managing my pip assessment that was it.
Then after my call the text to say I will get a decision within 8 weeks so found it very strange that it was such a short call  x

Sorry to now be a gloom merchant, but everyone seems to be told by a standard text message that they'll get a decision within 8 weeks, whereas it can take anything from 2-12 weeks. Hopefully you hear soon. :)

No thank you 😊 it’s nice to hear from people who have been through the process and not just a simple text!!

Hello and welcome to our online community @libann How's your day going?

That does sound very short for an assessment but perhaps that's a good sign! I understand it being an anxiety provoking time, so until you receive the decision try your best to distract yourself and put it out of your mind. I know it's easier said than done, but we are here for you whatever the outcome.

Just to let you know, I've moved your thread to our PIP, DLA and AA category to make it more readily visible to others who might be going through the same :)

Best wishes and have a lovely Easter weekend.

As you weren't told about the appointment in advance then this will be known as a paper based assessment but they just needed some extra information before they could write the report. It's rare but it does happen. It's not a good or bad thing, it just means that a full assessment wasn't needed.

@Cher_Scope thank you for your message,
am I able to call them and ask for a copy of the report do you think? Will this show points scored? Or not really much point? Have a lovely bank holiday Easter weekend

You can ring PIP to request a copy of the report. However, it's not the decision, it's a recommendation only. Any recommended points will not be added because only a decision maker can award points. You'll need to look at the PIP descriptors and compare the dots in the report that are next to the activities/descriptors to add up any potential points.

Requesting the report very often causes more needless anxiety so whether you request it is entirely up to you.

    @poppy123456 thank you poppy.
Maybe I won’t then, as if it doesn’t count towards anything it’ll only make you wonder and worry more. Then frustration builds doesn’t it, I appreciate all your help  :)

Very randomly dwp called today I missed the call and they then text saying they’d call me between certain times (they called 3 minutes before I got the text) what would they be ringing for please? Hopefully they call back

We can only guess what the call was related to. Hopefully they will ring again if they still need to speak to you.
