Pip review decision without speaking to Me

Hello all,  

I’m new here and have a question. I recently requested a review of my pip as my mobility has decreased. I had CAB help me fill out the form and they kindly posted it for me too.

No more than 10’days later I receive a text saying my review is complete and I will receive my decision letter in 2 weeks.

the confusion: I’ve not spoken to anyone at DWP about my condition or reason for review, has anyone experienced this before? I caver decide if it’s a bad or good thing.

as way of context I live with. CP. I had a life time DLA award with daily living and mobility claim:

like everyOne who had one of these awards I was reviewed in about 2015 and the outcome was that received the standard daily living but my mobility was removed.

the assessor advised in their report that as I went to watch football and got tge bus to work this meant I was mobile.

what wasn’t taken into account wa tge fact I fall several times a month and I was told they couldn’t take into account I can’t do steps or steep inclines/reclines,

well since lockdown my mobility has decreased significantly whilst I still try to keep active I am in pain and very stiff for several days after doing any walk more than a few hundred metres. I’ve also had two recent significant falls which needed  medical treatment including stitches for head and facial injuries.

I now don’t go anywhere unless I go door to door either with a lift or by taxi, this obviously isolates me as I can’t afford taxis for every journey and I never want to be a burden on friends.

therefore I decided to be reviewed in hope of receiving mobility and allowing me to get a life back.

    You've had what's known as a paper based assessment and in my opinion isn't a bad thing. Sometimes these are done if there's enough of information not to need an assessment.

    You can either wait for the decision letter or you can ring PIP on Tuesday when they open to ask them what you've been awarded and they will tell you.

    My logic when I initially received the text was that if they were to give me a negative outcome without even speaking to me this wound be very challengeable at tribunal and it must be a good sign but this might just be me trying to look on the bright side.

    Paper based assessments are rare but they do happen. Once you have the decision if you're not happy you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration.

    I had to do a paper review for pip they had it since 7/01/23 
    i had no message at all to say they received it. I know it cost a bit more but I pay for them fo sigh it so they can’t say they didn’t get it. 
    It’s now the 27/05/23 and still not heard anything back. Since I put the form in I’ve been diagnosed with 2 other health conditions that affect all areas of my life. 
    I don’t like taking on the phone to anyone. I’m worried now because it’s taking so long but I wouldn’t be able to speak to them to tell them the new health problems that I have just don’t know weather to see what the decision is first or take someone to ring on my behalf. My mental health is suffering really badly as every day comes 
    The first time I was on high for care and low for mobility second time just low care nothing else 
    because it’s taking so long I’m thinking the worse. 

    The fact that I didn’t get a massage to say they got it worries me. Also should I get a family member to ring just to see what tve score is

    @2703Sober there are exceptionally long delays with review decisions. We have members that have been waiting for a year for a decision. 

    If they hadn’t received your form then your current PIP award would have stopped so I’m sure they’ve received it now. 

    You should expect another assessment, which are mostly by telephone, some are face to face and video call. All you can do is wait unfortunately. Your current PIP award will continue until a decision is made on your review.

    @poppy123456 thank you for your reply. Yes I’m still receiving pip. It’s just I worry so much 
    I have autism so hate speaking to anyone on phone. As I would like to know what’s going on. 
    But as I’m still getting it I need not to worry less around it all.
