Hello hope you are all well? How long does it take to hear back from applying for carers allowance and also how are you assessed?
Thanks

It can take anything up to 12 weeks, sometimes longer. The person claiming it isn't assessed at all, they are just asked if they care for the person for at least 35 hours per week.If the person is working then they will need to report this when they claim and they will very likely need to send proof of earnings.0

Thank you! Is it backdated?0

And also how much is it a week?0

It's £76.75/week. It can be backdated for a maximum of 3 months (assuming you were caring for the person at that time). https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance you must also make sure than you don't earn more than £139/week if you work.If you're claiming other benefits for yourself such as UC then it will be deducted in full. You can claim carers element of UC which i believe was advised on another thread of yours.

Or call be backdated for longer if the person being cared for only received their disability benefit award decision within the last 3 months in which case the CA can be backdated to the date the disability benefit started from.poppy123456 said:It's £76.75/week.
