Pip awarded text. What next?

Good morning all.
This morning I woke up to a text to say that I have been awarded PIP and to wait for the assessment letter to be sent out within 2 weeks.
I applied via the telephone on the 1st of March this year.
I had a 2 hour telephone assessment on the 18th of May.
Then the award text this morning.
I have been suffering with PTSD for almost 15 years because of pride/stubborn headedness. I finally broke down too many times and sought help through my GP which resulted in an appointment within 30 mins with the mental health department at the surgery.
After an hour of talking i was referred to a well-being therapist and had 15 sessions for EMDR and now having CBT sessions and I can see a difference in myself. I'm still not back to my best but small steps forward.
Can anyone else who has been awarded PIP give me any information on what's next.
What does the letter normally contain.
Will I have to confirm anything before payment is made.
How long before I should receive payments.
I would also like to thank each and every person who took the time to reply to my other posts. Such a kind and caring community where I am able to feel safe and not be judged.
Thanks.

You normally receive a back payment prior to receiving the decision letter, it should come later this week. The letter will contain details of what rates and the length your award will be plus details of payments below and your first ‘proper’ payment, each payment after this will be made every 4 weeks on the same day. The other pages will include details of points you have scored and a ‘letter of entitlement’ which you can use for other benefits/services as it shows proof you are in receipt of PIP.
I’d just like to check, do you receive any other benefits?1 -

When you say back payment (which I was aware of) will it be a lump sum or do they give you the opportunity to have it in amounts over a period of time.
And we are currently recieving UC as my wife works 30/40hrs per week. (Am I right in saying this is separate from UC and won't affect the UC claim)
We also get some relief from council tax but will that be a better award being on Pip do you know?
And lastly we don't currently get any HB award but will that also change?
Sorry for the additional questions. I genuinely do appreciate the help.

The money that’s owed will be paid as a lump sum. PIP is a separate benefit to UC and will be paid separately.
As you’re claiming UC with your wife if your PIP award includes the daily living part and your wife cares for you for at least 35 hours per week they can claim carers element. (Assuming they don’t claim it for looking after someone else) There’s no earnings limit when claiming carers element like there is when claiming carers allowance. You will need to wait to see what the award is. If it is at least daily living then your wife can report a change of circumstances and then report caring for you on her journal. Your maximum UC entitlement will then increase by £185.86/month.
You mentioned claiming housing benefit. You can only claim this if you’re living in either supported or temporary housing. If not then if there’s any entitlement it will be included in your UC maximum entitlement.Does it show the housing element in the calculations on your statement? As your wife works if you don’t have the work allowance then earnings received will reduce your UC by 55%.Have you reported your health condition for your UC?0 -

My wife does not care for me as such but does have to give me some prompting to take my medication which I'm a sod for forgetting as my head is scrambled most of the time and she does help with some relaxation/breathing exercises that help me reduce the anxiety levels.
We live in a housing association property if that's of any help to you. Not assisted living or anything like that. Just lower cost housing which we are extremely grateful for.
And regards telling UC I was speaking with my work coach at appointments and was told I've no need to tell UC as pip is separate. Please tell me if this information is incorrect as I want to do this the right way and save any problems with overpayment issues down the line.
Thanks.0 -
Yes PIP is a separate benefit to UC as I advised. It won’t hurt to let them know that you’ve been awarded PIP once you know what your award is.
Have you reported your health condition for UC and been through the work capability assessment? You will need to send fit notes for this too. Assuming your health condition limits your capability to work. There’s some information here. https://www.gov.uk/health-conditions-disability-universal-credit#:~:text=You%20might%20get%20an%20extra,your%20'capability%20to%20work'.0 -
In relation to the answer above, believe one can claim housing benefit if one rents. I am not sure how it works with a mortgage as I don't have one. Also if you are from London like me, the subsidiary doesn't even cover my rent. There are limits to the payment amount allocated.
Importantly, I also advise to check if the housing benefit is dependant on standard or higher rate pip. As I am/was on higher rate for daily living, the rent/HB from UC was automatically awarded upon my application.
This was pre covid. I am currently awaiting my PiP review outcome which was decided today but I have to wait for the letter for the outcome. So my answer is based on my personal application experience if that helps.0 -

I did tell my work coach that I started a pip claim and was told that if it was unsuccessful then she would look into the work capability route.
I have an appointment with JC on the 15th of this month and will show the text I received and the letter should it arrive in time so that they are fully informed at every step. I do update the journal online when I receive any information as I want to be as helpful as possible so it saves any questions down the line.

After you do that, you likely won't ever need to deal with UC again after everything is in place now you have Pip. That was my experience anyway, I was no longer contacted by UC or checked in on by UC again once I was awarded PiP. My dealings were only with PIP after my awards were granted with UC.
Again, because my experience is dependent on higher rate for one component which was the Daily Living, I cannot guarantee it is the same way for a standard mobility and standard daily living award, consecutively.
However, I would definitely look into it on forums aswell to see what others say. Also please take into consideration there arenalot of changes going on, even down to Poppy confirming for me that I've recoeved a new style text from PIP regarding my decision on my review. However, I don't think the way PIP and UC communicate and function together (upon a PiP award being granted) has changed.0 -

Regards my health condition.
Yes I reported it to my work coach upon receiving the diagnosis of PTSD via the NHS mental health department.
I have kept them up to date with my progress so far and will continue to keep them informed.
I have not been through a work capability assessment as I was told by my work coach that if I was awarded PIP then that will do and if pip was unsuccessful then she would go down the WCA route. Hope that make sense as not great at getting out the right words.

Housing "benefit" doesn't exist anymore under UC claimants incase anyone reading this is confused.

ThanksMost people have assessments for both PIP and the WCA. If you’ve been sending fit notes for UC then you should have been referred for a work capability assessment on about day 29 of your claim.0 -

That still makes no sense because they are completely different benefits.
If you reported your health condition and are sending fit notes then you should be referred for a WCA (unless you are working yourself and earning more than 16xNMW/week) then this would have prevented them referring you. Now you have been awarded PIP you can be referred even if you’re earnings are more than that.0 -

I applied and was assessed and awarded (which rate is still unknown)
Like I said I was told that if my pip claim wasn't successful then she would look into claiming WCA.
Benefits are a minefield and I'm thankful that sites such as this exist so that I am aware of discrepancies in information given.

Usually a person who is awarded PIP at any rate (standard or enhanced) is no longer subject to the Work-Related assessments and are awarded for the type of Work-Related activity via UC depending on their PIP award status.
Hope that helps.
