Found out i have breast cancer, when should I let pip know?

Hi all, 
Im on pip for my hip dysplasia but 2 weeks ago i found out I have breast cancer n will be having lump removed, the chemo n radiation. No idea how long this all takes. Praying it'll be fine. It's only really just sunk in for me but will be having the operation on the 26th to remove it. 
I know I need to tell them but honestly I've only just started to be able to say I have breast cancer n not cry. 

I'm just wondering what the process is, will I need another assessment? Will they penalise me for not telling them when I got my results which was 2 weeks ago?

    I'm sorry to hear that. You do not need to report any changes unless your conditions have got worse and you could score more points for a higher award. Or if life expectancy is 12 months or less.

    PIP isn't about a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect you against the 12 PIP descriptors. If you report changes you will be sent more forms to fill in and return and another assessment is most likely. No, you won't be penalised for not reporting this.

    I think so im at the beginning of the treatment process, so I'm still learning about everything. So much information but yes that's taken a weight off my mind and thankyou so much!! 😊

    Well for the particular cancer I have, I would have died 15+ years ago because its so aggressive but thanks to the discovery of herceptin medicine it no longer is. This is a targeted treatment. :)
