New PIP New Claim - what date do they go back to?

Hi all, firstly I'm new here and new to PIP etc. 

Unfortunately due to a recent downward turn to my health I have applied for PIP. Long story short I have logged into my bank today and there's a payment there. I haven't received the letter yet so no idea what sections i got awarded and at what level. Its huge relief to see I've been awarded this PIP so that's very good.

My question is when do they back date it to? is it when you first applied? (i.e. called up) or is it when they received your form? How long does the payment take to arrive in my bank from when they made their decision? I'm anxious to work out what i was awarded and can probably work it out if i know the dates and times. 

Sorry for the questions and apologies if these have been covered already. I did check but couldn't really see. Grateful for any advice and I'll update when i get my letter and see if i was right!!

    It's paid from the date you rang to start your claim. Payment takes 3-5 working days to arrive in your bank, which means the decision was probably made around the early part of last week.

    You can ring PIP to ask what the decision is and they will tell you. You should receive the decision letter within the next week or so.

    Thank you everyone for the help. I was awarded the lower daily living allowance. Which is a bit of a disappointment, but better than zero. I was going to appeal, but did have the energy to bother. Thanks everyone again.

    That's the thing, isn't it, @Nick_9_. Even though you feel you could appeal the decision, sometimes it takes more energy than you have  :( Is there anything that could help the appeal to be more manageable for you - for example, is there anyone who can help you with this?  :)
