PiP success story

Hi everyone, I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who participated in this forum, came across y’all by accident but reading y’all experience, advice, comments, have been helpful and appreciated.
My story starts when I was in mental hospital post late last year, before that I have never heard of PiP. I applied (someone for hospital actually) called on my behalf so I applied in November 2022 but I didn’t receive the form until sometime in February because they wanted my identification card (I’m not originally from the uk) then I sent the form 19th of April. I filled the form myself, I was admitted to hospital after failed attempt to kill myself, while in hospital I was diagnosed as having boarder line personality disorder “BPD” and also depression. Physically, I suffer from Crohn’s disease and eating disorders so with the form I included the discharge letter from my time in mental hospital and a breakdown of my medical history (active and inactive), unfortunately my gp wasn’t helpful when it came to writing a comprehensive report letter so I didn’t bother including gp letter. On the form, I included as much information about how I go about my daily life, including the medication I’m taking. I sent the form on 19th of April, (tbh I was drunk when I filled it out lol) so I was brutally honest, including saying **** therapy and medication literally wrote that (I lost a friend recently so I didn’t really care) so back to the topic, a few days later, I got a text from dwp saying they had my pip from, then in late May I got another text saying they had received my pip report (apparently they did paper based assessment) then last week (second week of June) I got a call asking if I can manage a large sum of money (I was awarded the maximum on both daily living and mobility) then 5 days later I got a nice sum of money. So from sending the form from getting first payment (19th April to mid June). Overall I’m happy about the timeframe. I will be honest, I’m not really a good candidate to give out any advice about filling out the form but in my experience, I was honest about how I really felt, I even got a call from my gp because the pip team were worried about me expressing suicidal thoughts on the form and they contacted my gp. I said some stupid stuff on there too lol😂😂.
I wish everyone success and good health.
Thank you for everything. ❤️

Thank you for sharing your experience with the community @abbeyk I'm glad you're finding the forum helpful, and that you've been successful in your PIP claim
How are things for you at the moment, are you being supported with your mental health and wellbeing?0 -
Hi, hope you’re doing well. To answer your question, yes I used the space on the form, tbh I didn’t even manage to use 2/3 of the space on almost all the question pages. I’m not saying you do the same but I was precise and didn’t really put unnecessary details. But I would advise you to get a report of your medical history/the breakdown and the list, and which also includes medications you are taking. I can message you if you want to see it. And also a report from your psychiatrist (if you have one). Make sure you highlight your mental state, as someone who is also borderline, I showcased how my mood impacts my physical health to the point not wanting to do anything including basic hygiene and eating as well as social life. I was completely honest and explicit about how it affects me so they thought putting me through the assessment process was cruel and probably pointless. Make sure to vent any grievances and how life sucks living as EUPD, including lack of social life, how that leads to depression and how depression leads to existential crisis. So pretty much connect and outline how one thing leads to the other, make the connection even if you are not diagnosed officially. If you have any questions, I will be happy to help.paries1 said:
Thanks for sharing this . I’m applying for the first time , I also have EUPD . I’m absolutely dreading having an assessment, great you had a paper based ( they are rare ) . Did you include lots of separate A4 sheets of paper or did you manage to just use the space given on form ?abbeyk said:Hi everyone, I want to start by saying thank you to everyone who participated in this forum, came across y’all by accident but reading y’all experience, advice, comments, have been helpful and appreciated. My story starts when I was in mental hospital post late last year, before that I have never heard of PiP. Thank you for your best wishes. Things at the moment are tough but taking it day by day. I live in a small village so not much support but you take pleasure where you can, online is the only form of communication and support so far but I’m planning to get a PlayStation and getting into gaming and playing with people online so I have that on the table. Other than that, same old lol.Alex_Scope said:Thank you for sharing your experience with the community @abbeyk I'm glad you're finding the forum helpful, and that you've been successful in your PIP claim
