I've been on P.I.P few years now but when I 1st started it people with mental health etc were not eligible for mobility part but in 2016 that changed. Anyway I still don't get mobility element & I can't go out alone, travel on public transport etc so should my claim be looked at???

Hello there @Sam_P if you feel your conditions or the help you need has changed since you first applied you can report a 'change of circumstances' using the PIP enquiry line.
You should know that when this happens, you claim will be looked at again as a whole, so your current award might increase, decrease, or stay the same.
If you'd like to talk it through, you can always call or email the Scope Helpline, or use Advice Local to search for an adviser.
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling to get out on your own, are you able to get all the essentials you need okay?0 -

Hi I hope you’re having a good day.My sister has MH problems and she hadn’t been getting the mobility part off Pip, about a month ago out of the blue she received a call from a Pip decision maker.
They told her they had been looking at her claim and she was owed a large back payment due to never getting the mobility part on her pip, She received over £9000 about a week later, and the mobility part has been added to her award.
Im not sure if it’s worth your while phoning, but as I said she got a call out off the blue and was not expecting it.
Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will come on and answer your question.
Good luck.0 -
Thanks for sharing @Lou67 I'm so glad things have now been sorted with your sister- it's quite something that that was overlooked!0

Hi I hope your well.
Oh I just hope it will help a little.
I think her receiving the payment was something to do with a new law that came in regarding the mobility part of pip been paid for MH.
But yes it was a massive amount to be loosing out on, plus now she has to receive the EM part every month added to her award.
Again I’m not sure exactly why this is happening and hopefully someone with better knowledge will respond.
Take care ❤️1 -
@Lou67 ... your sister could be one of those lucky enough to have had their claim looked at again under 'social support' ie. prompting to engage with others. etc ... I think they're doing this looking at claims from 2016 ... (I think)
I had a letter about a month ago explaining they'd looked at mine again and I didn't fall into this category therefore no change. I wasn't expecting it so no dramas
I hope your sis' treats herself to something nice1 -
@WelshBlue
Hi I hope your good.
Yes that’s what it was, she just got the call out off the blue at first she thought it was someone joking around. She’s been busy spending lol gave her son and daughter something, she’s bought a new suite and flooring.
Enjoy your evening.1
