Hi everyone :)Ā

Do you remember us making a few posts about a campaign called Let’s Play Fair last year? Don’t fret if not. I’ll catch you up. Let’s Play Fair is a campaign for free, accessible, and inclusive playgrounds in every community. You can check out what we got up to last year on our website.

I’m glad to say that Let’s Play Fair is back! And, this year, we’re focussing on making local changes.

Life is harder than it should be for families with disabled children. Especially during the current cost of living crisis, as many of you will know.

So it’s really important that disabled children and young people have access to free, inclusive playgrounds in their area. Play helps children to develop, and form memories that last a lifetime.

Throughout the campaign this summer and beyond, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Call on your councillor to prioritise playgrounds
  • Discover how accessible and inclusive your local playground is
  • Find out how to influence your local decision makers on this issue

This will help make sure that disabled children get to play too. Showing all children from a young age that an inclusive world is possible.

I’ll be posting opportunities to get involved on here. If you have any questions, or want to know more, please feel free to comment! Or email the campaigns team on campaigns@scope.org.uk

every local community should have a playground where all children can play

That's great to hear @Sandy_123 :) It's quite a popular campaign! We're hoping we can have even more of a local influence this year.

Do you reckon your councillors will be supportive of the campaign?

Erm I don't see why they wouldn't beĀ
We have 1 medium size park by me that has no accessible play areas for disabled childrenĀ
We also have a big park that the play area wouldn't accommodate. It's a shame really as every child likes to play

That is definitely a shame @Sandy_123 :( But I'm glad to hear you feel your councillors would be on board with changing this.Ā

I'll be making a post later this week letting you know how you can email your councillors in just a few clicks, with the opportunity to share your personal experiences if you'd like.Ā
