Filling in the attendance allowance form

Hi, I'm trying to help fill in the attendance allowance form for an elderly family member but I'm bit confused on how to answer some of the questions. Can anyone help?

The questions seem to be divided up by ' i have difficulty' and ' I need help'. She struggles with her mobility due to her heart and lung conditions. She moves slowly, gets very breathless and suffers pain etc, but just about manages by herself. The same with washing and dressing and toilet needs, getting out of bed. She is on oxygen machine on and off in day and night. Is she classed as needing help, or do we just tick the I have difficulty boxes?

AA doesn't take into consideration any mobility issues because there's no mobility part to it. It's things like washing/bathing, cooking, getting in and out of bed, eating/drinking, dressing/undressing etc that they look at.

You should mention things like tasks that make them breathless, any pain caused by doing those tasks, how long does it take them to do the tasks etc.

I took me 3 attempts for my wife to get AA. But persevered and eventually she was awarded it at the highest rate for life.
If at first you fail, try, try again.
