Hi I’m new here, iv just been awarded LWCRA but I work 12 hours. I’m about to start maternity leave also so will be on statutory maternity pay, I’m wondering if I will get any extra money or do you not get it when you’re working/ getting maternity pay. Thank you

You will be entitled to extra money from the 4th month of your claim. This means your maximum UC entitlement will increase by £390.06/month. When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note and what date you usually receive your money each month. If you didn't previously have the work allowance then you'll also be entitled to that now. This means that a certain amount of earnings will be disregarded before the 55% deductions apply. If you claim for help with your rent it will be £379/month. If you don't it will be £631/month.If it's SMP you'll be claiming then this will be classed as earnings and reduce your UC by 55% after the work allowance. If it's SMA you're claiming this will reduce your UC £1 for £1.1

Thank you! So I reported my sick note on the 29th March 2023 and I am due my UC payment on the 30th July. Would it be the following month I will get it or should the extra payment be added to Julys payment? Thank you

That means your waiting period will be April to July. LCWRA starts from assessment period 24th July to 23rd August and first LCWRA payment will be 30th August. No LCWRA element is owed.If you didn’t previously have the work allowance then this will be applied from March/April assessment period so they may owe you some money for this.0

I am unsure if I get the work allowance, I currently get standard allowance of£368.74Housing£365.34Money for 1 child£315.00 (2nd child due in 2 weeks)Wage £530.71And take home payminus‑ £83.44Not sure if that’s confusing or not sorry if it is and thank you for helping!0

As you already have a child on your claim then you’ll already have the work allowance. The -£83.44 will be your deductions after the work allowance.Once the baby is born you’ll be entitled to a further £259.38/month which will be paid from the assessment period in which the baby is born,0
