Shingles

6 weeks ago I had shingles in both eyes. The hospital only prescribed antiviral eye drops but as they never had them I had to wait 2 weeks before they turned up. 3 days later I had blisters on my spine and spread to the whole of my leg, grown, buttocks, tummy and spine. It was hell the pain is terrible. My scabs were huge and got infected. They prescribed antiviral and antibiotics. My left side is numb. As the rash was recovering. I woke up this morning with another flare up. 3 in six weeks. I'm in agony and morphine does not help. I'm on nerve blockers and other medication. I tried calamine which helps a little. I'm on chronic pain and I was told I may have to have the injection. If you can not cure shingles how will an injection stop it. The doctor said it was the worse case they had seen. I can't cope with this burning and electric shock pain. I may go down the holistic root. Anyone had the same experiences

Hi @magmar - & welcome to the community. My Mum had shingles & was in a lot of pain, so I'm sorry you're suffering so very badly. I wonder, as you mention an injection, whether this could be the shingles vaccine? Perhaps you could ask your GP to find out exactly what they do mean.

Hello @magmar
Welcome to the community!
I'm so sorry to hear you are in pain with the shingles. I agree with Chiarieds that you should ask your GP for more clarification over the injection.
Have you spoken to your local pharmacist? As they can be very helpful with over the counter items. I had to use calamine lotion for something different and like you, found it helped a little. My pharmacist recommended the calamine cream instead, and that was a lot more soothing.0
