Hello, I have requested a needs assesment for my Mum. Social care advised I need to request a continuing healthcare assesment first and wait for the outcome. The CHC process can take weeks. The checklist has been completed which has triggered an assesment but they can't give timescales. My Mum has care and support needs so am I able to call Social care back and ask them to complete their needs assesment also or do I need to wait for the outcome of the CHC assesment? Thankyou

Hi, welcome to the community @Trudi77! Just to let you know I've moved this topic to a more relevant category so it has better visibility, I also renamed it so people can more easily see the topic.
I think your best bet is chatting with the Social Care team, they should be able to advise you on the timeline and at what stage they can start on the assessment.
Other than calling them there's also this page here Getting a care needs assessment - Social care and support guide - NHS (www.nhs.uk) which has a few helplines where you can get information.
Let us know how you get on!1 -

Hi @Trudi77 - & welcome to the community. I don't know if this resource may be helpful as they have a helpline about CHC, as well as info, so maybe worth also talking to them: https://beaconchc.co.uk/
