Hello all,

My daughter has a tribunal for PIP on Tuesday, and we were wondering how long we can expect it to last?

I know its a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question, but a rough guide would help.

She is only contesting two parts of the Care section, so am guessing the questions asked will be specific to these?

Many TIA

What questions they ask will depend on how her conditions affect her. As we don't know anything about those conditions then it wouldn't be possible to tell you what they will ask.

Timescales for hearings can be anything up to about 90 minutes.

Many thanx for the reply Poppy.

Yes I understand they may ask her any manner of questions regarding her conditions and these are complex. Question was just to get a possible insight from the forum so that I can manage her expectations as best I can.

She is Autistic with very high neurodivergence, but also has fistulated Chrohns disease so time limiting on both counts. Her initial PIP telephone assessment was 80 minutes and she really struggled with the last 20.

Anyways, what will be, will be as they say, It’s happening, so onwards we go!

How did it go? Was it as long as you feared?

    About 3 minutes !

As soon as we got in there, the panel advise that some points had been deducted from another section and would be reinstated so that meant that her total qualified for the enhanced rate so they needed go no further and ‘take up anymore of our time’. They also said the award was too short and changed that from 3 to 5 years.

We came out a bit gobsmacked really but obvs very pleased.

Only the judge spoke to us and was very nice. The court clerk was very helpful and explained what the process was and who each member was. She had advised about 30 minutes max before we went in.

Our only hiccup was the court ushers sent us to wait outside the wrong court and we only just got to the right one with 2 minutes to spare 😳

Just have to wait to see if DWP want to challenge now but fingers crossed.

    Thanx for asking 🙏🏻🙂
