Hello I'm so sorry to ask this and if its okay to. If not please ignore and delete for me admins.

Recently my sister just got out of hospital where she had a stoma bag inserted.
She's been a nurse all her life , recently retired lost her husband a week prior to Christmas 2 yrs ago with covid. He caught whilst in hospital from a staff member. So she's been through the wars.

I promised her I'd asked doe her as she's not the open kind to divulge her life online.

She rang our local office here in Belfast asking about claiming pip and was told she has to have it on 3 months. She's already been told by the surgeon it's on for life. She had her op 3 weeks ago and is home one week.
Anyone advise please
Many thanks

    Hello @male45

Fellow Ostomate here! I've had my stoma since 2020. PIP isn't about a diagnosis, or when or for how long. I would encourage her to reach out to Citizen's Advice if she needs any support with applying for PIP.

For PIP you must have experienced the difficulties related to the PIP descriptors for at least 3 months.

There is a lot of support out there, including her own stoma nurses and Colostomy UK

That's under state pension age so she can apply for PIP. Whether there's any entitlement once she's reached those 3 months will totally depend on how her conditions affect her.
