My son was awarded the middle rate of dla so I updated my journal to inform uc and claim the disabled child element and have it backdated to the 19/04/23 which is the date his dla was awarded from it’s been 2 weeks now and I’ve only had 1 reply saying it’s with a decision maker has anyone else claimed the disabled child element and how long does it take for a decision

It can take a few weeks sometimes longer for a decision to be made. Then before they pay what is owed they will need to recalculate your past statements to work out how much you've already received against how much you should have received. You will then receive the difference between the 2. Once this is done you'll receive a letter on your journal telling you how much they owe and it will then be paid into your bank.

If it's only been 2 weeks I would wait at least a week longer, then I would perhaps contact them to see if there is any update. It is a little unfortunate that there is such a long wait on do many things.0
