Unexpected call on Sunday morning. DWP have made a new decision!

...as a result of my appeal that relates to enhanced mobility. The appeal is now dropped (well it will be when the system catches up). This takes me from zero mobility to enhanced. All a good result, so now I have standard DL and enhanced mobility and look forward to a backpayment too, from 30th Jan 23!
I'm very happy to help others in the same situation but I'd also say, like those who have had successes, that it's important not to give up. I know it's really very difficult. So many awful hoops to jump through.

Fantastic! Although appeal lapsing is very rare, it's great to hear it's happened for you. As DWP made the decision and not the Tribunal, you should expect that backdated money by the middle of next week, a small team work on these sorts of payments. It also means that any future reviews will be carried out as a normal review and not a case where you would have to re-apply from scratch which happens when a decision isn't made by the DWP (although that's now at the back of your mind!)

Thank you @bg844. I didn't know about the review part of things, but, like you say, that's far from my thoughts right now

The other thing is that I realize that I really didn't advocate for myself very well when I filled out the form - being here at Scope however, I learnt so much and as things progressed to MR (and I got standard DL) and then the appeal part, it meant that I better understood how to put my case across. It worked and I have Scope and the marvelous people here to thank for that. Thank you! If I could, I'd buy you all a beer or something. I owe such a lot.2

It can be really hard to advocate for yourself, I certainly struggle with it. I have always downplayed how issues affect me, even when telling the truth would benefit me.
I'm so happy you got the result you wanted Lottie, it's always great to hear the success stories and thank you also for your incredibly kind words

That's brilliant news! I remember when you first joined the forum. I completely agree that having some understanding definitely helps. At least now you can relax! If it's a sunny day with you then treat yourself to an ice cream

@Jimm_Scope I’m exactly the same and with dyslexia I got myself into a right state of confusion. I got turned down initially then again at MR. Realised I needed help and I sat down with a CAB advisor. First thing she did was do a submission to the tribunal point by point .. she wrote down what I tried to say but unsuccessfully did as I told her about my day to day life. That’s just been submitted. I’ve been told another 10 weeks or so before my hearing 🤞 I applied back in February, I’m sure once I get my date I’ll post on here for reassurance because as at times I’ve just wanted to give up x0 -
@Rainbow116 Good luck with it, I'm glad you got help. I luckily could rely on my partner to give it the critical eye and help me re-write things or properly explain things without leaving out any important information.0
