PIP out of the blue phone message

Hi there, I had a phone message out of the blue about my Pip review but I had a panic attack when they said it was DWP as I wasn’t prepared for the call. I asked if they could phone me back later and she said she would but Didn’t. What do I do now? Will my claim now be stopped and I will have to appeal?

    Do DWP Automatically Stop your PIP claim if you fail to take their call even if it’s out of the blue and you are not prepared and you didn’t recognise the number?

    Your PIP most likely won't be stopped. When you have a review your file is usally sent to the decision maker first, rather than straight to the health assessment providers. When this happens sometimes they may ring to ask some questions to see if a decision can be made without having to send it to the assessment providers. (assuming it was the decision maker)

    They may still ring back. If they don't they will either make a decision with the information they have. Or your file will be sent to the health assessment providers.

    If it was the health assessment providers that rang they will either ring again, or they may ask you to attend and assessment either by phone or face to face, if they can't complete a paper based assessment.

    Hi Darren again. I had my PIP review yesterday but I don’t feel she asked me about all of my conditions and only focused on a couple, I also don’t think I got my point across as well as what I would of done at a face to face assessment. She said at the end I might not have to attend another assessment?I thought this was the assessment? And DWP might make a decision on the information they already have. I am now really worried it will stop and I will end up with nothing. If it does will this effect my ESA and will that stop as well? I was Anxious before now I’m terrified.

    The assessment is there for them to gather more evidence to support your claim. They don't always ask all the questions because they may have enough of information for some things.

    The time to get your point accross was when you filled out the form.

    If the worst happens and you're refused your ESA won't stop completely because they are 2 completely different benefits. However, if your ESA includes the severe disability Premium and you're not awarded the daily living part then the SDP will stop.

    I see in your other thread it was a decision maker that rang you. This means it wasn't a full assesssment so that's what they mean by "if an assessment is needed" based on what the decision maker said it's unlikely you'll need a full assessment because you were informed that you'll receive a letter in a couple of weeks, which will be the decision letter. You've had what is known as a paper based assessment. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

    Hi again I have received a date for my assessment it is Monday the 28th August which I was a bit surprised about as that is a Bank Holiday and I didn’t think the Assessors worked Bank Holidays?

    They very often work on bank holidays and weekends. Seems like a decision couldn't be made on paper alone and an assessment is needed.

    I have had an email from DWP this morning saying they have made their decision and I will receive a letter in two weeks🤔Talk about Drag it out. An Anxious Two weeks now await🤔

    @Darrenb24 Hopefully it's sooner than later in those two weeks you get your letter!
