cauda equina or sciatica? advice please

Hi all, newbie here. 10 weeks ago I began having pain in my left buttock, a stabbing sensation that affects me mostly when sitting but is constantly there. I wasn't sure if I'd overdone it at the gym initially and pulled a muscle or whether it was the fact that I was sat around at my son's football for two hours.
The pain is there constantly as mentioned, it doesn't move down the leg just seems to be stationed on the buttock and very top of thigh/inner thigh. I get some shooting pains in my privates which is similar to the pain you get when having an anaesthetic, that stinging kind of pain. I am limited with driving as any longer than 15minutes in the car I'm in excruciating pain. Today on my journey home from work the pain was so intense I felt as though I was in labour at the point of needing to push with the pressure felt 'down there'. No accidents in terms of toileting but really struggling with 💩 and could probably go all day without a wee if I wasn't randomly taking myself.  I was initially put on naproxen and amitriptyline but was switched onto cocodamol, naproxen, gabapentin and starting some other medication to settle my stomach as the pain has been making me feel sick for the past couple of days. I rang to arrange a physio appointment 6 weeks ago and was put on the waiting list. I'm really worried that there's more going on, I've read about the 'red flags' but I've also read that those are kind of crisis point, in need of emergency investigation/treatment. The doctors have said that it won't be investigated in terms of scans/MRI until I've tried the physio but I've no idea how long thats going to be. I work in a children's nursery so I'm quite active but being very careful about what I'm doing - walking around, limited bending and lifting. I've continued with the gym but sticking to steady pace walks on the treadmill, but that itself has been on hold this week because of the pain. if I try cycling on the bike my feet go numb after 10mins or get excruciating pain so have to stop.

I've told all this to the gp- 3 in fact as I've had to call back twice to change/ask for more medication. since coming back from work i've taking my medication and have been lay in bed but the medication hasn't kicked in.

Quite frankly the pain is awful and I'm worried it's never going to end/get worse and it terrifies me. Can anyone shed any light on if they've had cauda equina/sciatica to see if the symptoms match theirs. I don't know if I'm just overthinking with worrying about it.

Unfortunately, as we are not medical professionals we won't be able to give any medical advice and it's against the forum rules.

I would also be aware of comparing others to yourself because many of the same symptoms can point to many various different conditions.

You can also ask your GP to refer you to the pain clinic, however, having experience of the pain clinic myself many times, they were of very little help but not everyones experience will be the same.

I hope you get some answers soon.
