Good evening and thank you in advance for reading this message. Apologies if this has already been asked and answered.
So I received a message from PIP yesterday stating I had been awarded PIP. I applied Mid June.
After reading people’s queries on here I can see that backpay is usually paid within a number of days of receiving this message.
here is my question. So my bank lets me know in advance of payments incoming. In 2 days I’m due a payment which would not cover the back payment. I’m curious how pip payment is made, is this made monthly or weekly ? I’m very confused as I thought there was only 2 rates of £68.16 and £101.75.

I am owed 16 weeks as of 4th Oct yet the sum shown is £411

I’m wondering if anyone could shed light on why this would be so low or what this payment could be.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi @cindylou223 - & welcome to the community. PIP is paid every 4 weeks. The standard & enhanced rates you mention relate to the daily living component. The mobility component is £26.90 for the standard rate, & £71 for the enhanced rate. If this is a review, then any monies owed will usually be from the date a decision was made, & is usually paid separate to that you currently receive. If it's a new claim, then monies owed will be from the date you rang to start your claim. Hopefully when you get your decision letter this will explain, tho the money often will be in your bank account before this.

Hi and thank you so much for the reply. I’m completely new to this and this is the first time I’ve claimed for anything so was unsure how it all works to be fair.
So can you be eligible for the mobility component only and not receive the daily living ? Sorry for asking silly questions. I have read about pip and thought I understood but clearly not.

That’s correct, there’s 4 different combinations you could receive and one of those may be Mobility only. Whatever you do get awarded depends on your circumstances and how your conditions affect your Daily Living and/or Mobility activities.

Hi @cindylou223 - yes, that can happen, or you might get an award for both the daily living component & the mobility one at the same rate or different rates, or just an award for the daily living part. It's not a silly question, so please don't worry. You can see about the different rates here: https://www.gov.uk/pip/how-much-youll-get

Based on the amount in your bank i would guess you've been awarded standard mobility only. Once you know exactly what the decision is if you're not happy you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration. More information here. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/appeals/mandatory-reconsideration-pip/
