Dlm mobility insurance decline

A DR40 is 10 points on your license.Drivers with certain motoring convictions, licence endorsements, fixed penalty notices or disqualifications within the last five years will not be allowed to drive your vehicle. This will include yourself as a named driver. If the 5 years apply then you can apply again after that time.Do you have someone else that can be a named driver for you?0

I do not have any points I only got a 28 day disqualification I have 0 points it says on the website any thing over 30 days will have to wait 5 years and no I don’t have anyone else0
-
That would also be taking my independence and the point away from me having one as I wouldn’t be able to drive it I think these sort of things that they don’t allow needs looking into people solely relying on these for independence and day to day living it’s appalling the amount of people I see not being able to get these due to silly things like points0

I'm very surprised you don't have any points with it being a DR40. This conviction stays on your license for 4 years from the date of the offence. https://www.gov.uk/penalty-points-endorsements/endorsement-codes-and-penalty-pointsFor insurance purposes they have to be strict with people that are higher risk, same applies to all car insurance companies. It's the same for those that are under 25, they are limited to vehicles that are under 120bhp because of insurance purposes.

Because is wasent a ban I only got a 28 day disqualification very minor offence I dot. Have 0 points and I’m 28 there is no need for them not to insure it seems they pick and choose0
-
For the DR40 i can only tell you what information it provides on the gov.uk link i posted above. I don't think it's anything to do with "picking and choosing." RSA insurance is no different to any other insurance company.
Codes DR40 to DR70 must stay on a driving record for 4 years from the date of the offence or 4 years from date of conviction where a disqualification is imposed.
Code Offence Penalty points DR40 In charge of a vehicle while alcohol level above limit 10

Yespossibly but the DR40 will still apply for the time stated above and this is highly likely why they were refused.

For everyone’s questions as stated above I was not given any points and don’t have any points I had 3 points on my license which have expired never since I have been driving have I received points I was asleep in my car stranded going back 4 years ago and I was disqualified for driving for 28 days with a 140 pound fine no points it clearly states on the mobility website that anything over 30 days would lead to you being refused but I was only disqualified for 28 days nothing else0
-
Plus it’s not rsa it’s dlm Insueance and it’s a lot different because other insurance company’s woudnt refuse just simply would charge more I think it’s unnecessary the amount of poor disabled people which rely on this are being refused0
-
The only changes that have been made is the different insurance company, everything else has remained the same.I've never heard of RSA charging more for higher risk drivers, thats never happened. Motability leases are standard payments of either all the mobility allowance for the majority of vehicles, with an advance payment for some of them. Or there are some vehicles where the payment is a little less than the mobility allowance but not many. The payments include insurance, breakdown, repairs, tyres, servicing etc. All you pay for is fuel.0
-
I no that you’re saying dlm Insueance are the same as any other there not because they don’t refuse someone that’s had a 28 day ban where as mobility insurance is refusing a lot of vunerable disabled adults or using the mobility scheme is really wrong and I think something needs to change

I know it's less than 30 days, i seen it. I think you're misunderstanding the point i'm trying to make. You had a conviction which is a DR40, which must still be on your license for them to refuse you. I'm not talking about the disqualification. You will need to wait for that to be removed from your license before you can apply for a motability vehicle, which would be 4 years. You said here it was 3 years ago this happened.jimmy6125 said:I have a 28 day disqualification on my license a dr40 which 3 years ago0
-
Of course yes it’s still there so what Is the 30 day endorsement there for0
-
If there just gonna refuse you on the type of endorsement no matter on the day period what it states on the website also where does it state if you have dr40 you’re getting refused0
-
And also do you work for mobility0
-
jimmy6125 said:And also do you work for mobilityOf course not!! Not even sure why you think that. I claim benefits because of my health conditions and yes i have a motability vehicle.jimmy6125 said:where does it state if you have dr40 you’re getting refused
It says.. Drivers with certain convictions, disqualifications or endorsements in the last five years cannot drive a Scheme vehicle. Details here. https://www.motability.co.uk/get-support/during-your-lease/cars-wavs/named-drivers/#work Just to point out that this also applied to RSA as well as DLM.That's the reason i mentioned it was likely to be the conviction of the DR40 that got you refused and not the 28 day ban.You can also put your thoughts across to your local MP if you think the restrictions for the motability scheme are too strict.I won't comment any further here.

Do you have someone you can designate named driver? @jimmy6125
That would get around this issue and allow you to be on the scheme, you would not be able to drive the car however.
If there's a question of points/conviction you may want to contact Mobility and the DVLA to clear up the issue?0 -
I am awaiting mobility to call me back and no I dot. Have anyone who can do that for me mate and it pretty much defeats the object reason is so be independent0

Hello Jimmy6125
I understand your frustration, and it can be indeed frustrating when it seems that your eligibility for the Motability Scheme is impacted by what you consider to be a minor offence. It's important to remember that insurance providers, including those associated with the Motability Scheme, have their own criteria and risk assessments when it comes to insuring individuals. While the offence may seem minor to you, insurance companies often have their own underwriting guidelines, and they assess risk factors differently. While you might fulfil the criteria of not having faced a 30-day ban, insurers are still evaluating the risk associated with a perspective driver holding a DR40 offence on their licence.
Many DR40 offences are often the result of innocent mistakes. The distinction of this conviction code is the being in charge of a vehicle that does not require you to be driving it. You must be in the car, with keys to be deemed in charge of a vehicle. Many drivers are unaware of the rule until they accidentally breach it.
A DR40, will stay on your licence for four years from the date of conviction, if a disqualification is imposed, or four years from the date of the offence if you do not receive a driving ban. You will also receive 10 penalty points on your licence. If you get more than 12 penalty points over a three-year period, you will receive an automatic driving ban. Keep in mind that even though the points may no longer be on your licence after 4 years, some insurance providers may still ask about your previous convictions for a longer period.
Jimmy, I genuinely empathise with your situation, as I've always believed that the penalties for a DR40 conviction are excessively harsh. Over the years, I've seen people lose their jobs, be denied company vehicles, and even face the daunting prospect of losing their homes, all because they couldn't maintain their employment after this conviction. I wish you all the best.
