Hi I live in private rent with my 2 children my daughter has autism and ADHD, we live in a very small 3 bedroom house and her bedroom is the size of a closet shes 10 and she hoards everything teddy’s, rubbish, tags, cushions, blankets, if I try and remove anything she has a hypo and I can’t deal with the meltdowns from it so I have no choice but to leave it 
this and other stuff that has happened to me has forced me to not want to live here anymore I have anxiety and depression and overthink every little thing I imagine a house fire and her room going up so quick because of all the stuff in there it scares me so much. I have a letter from her school senco and am going to get a letter from the GP to ask if we could get a move on medical grounds, there’s obviously a lot more to this story but do you think I’ve got any chance of moving

    You and your child need help and sympathy. But the last thing anyone will logically suggest to cure your daughter of hoarding, is to give her an even bigger space to fill up. It is extremely hard to stand up to a determined child with autism and ADHD, but somehow, you and she need to get a working relationship, for her sake and for yours. Can you get fellow carer/ parents to give you advice and tips online, or contact specialist helpers?  There are also specialist hoarder assistance and advice sites.

    I'm sorry to hear your daughter is having issues with hoarding. Can I ask, is the GP aware of this? Have they suggested anything to help? I would encourage you to reach out if you haven't already.
