I am on pip and on a support group
DWP sent me a text saying I had to renew my pip it took over 3 months to get the form which I contacted them about and when I received my pip form it said return by 06/10/23 as you can see it's not at that date yet when I posted this but had a letter in post saying pip been cancelled due to no return of my form I called them to be told its their mistake but can't do anything about it and can't change the decision amd now have had my pip stopped completely and have to do the whole process again. Surely this is wrong? Any information about this will help
Thanks David

I agree and this is wrong! Your PIP shouldn't have stopped because the forms were received back. They should reinstate your PIP.I'd advise you to request the Mandatory Reconsideration on the decision to stop your PIP. You should put this in writing.0

Yes, as poppy says @Gooner0605 get your Mandatory Reconsideration in writing as soon as possible.
If you are struggling to write it I would get help from a family member, friend or adviser at your local Citizens' Advice!
edit: sorry for the ping @Globster! A failing of my eyes and I misread Gooner's name!0 -
Has anyone else had this scenario before ? I have to contact mcmillian today as they haven't heard this happen before0

Hello Gooner0605This is a problem that your local MP might be able to sort out for you. They are in a better position to communicate directly with the DWP on your behalf. You can search for your local MP contact details here https://members.parliament.uk/members/Commons if you want to write a letter or contact them in person. If you want to contact them online then you can use this site here https://www.writetothem.com Both sites require you to input your Postcade and it will search for your local MP allowing you to contact them. You must include your home address and postcode to confirm that you are in there constituancy in your message and information to do with your PIP application like your National Insurance number etc for them to help you.Explain in detail what has happened in your message.Hope that helps.Nasturtium0

@Gooner0605 I have no personal experience of this, but it seems highly improbable that you would be responsible for the impact of their clerical error. It might even be a grunt trying to cover their error.
I would escalate it, either going full 'Karen' asking to speak to management, or like other posters have said get your local MP to intervene.
I know MPs seem remote but I volunteered for a Lib Dem MP in Shropshire (a unicorn in Tory Posh Midlands) in the 2000s and they genuinely did action things based on personal correspondence so it's worth a shot if it means back pay.0 -
I spoke to a case manager and even though they said it's there fault cause the decision has been made and my pip has been stopped they can't change it back even though my end date for pip was 03/2024 I have a 3 way call with pip, mcmillian, and my self tomorrow0

@Gooner0605
That's really frustrating. Sorry to hear you have that additional stress.
I suppose they have their policies and procedures to follow based on timescales.
I hope your call goes well. Even if you have to start the process again, it's much faster than it used to be by the sounds of it.
It took me 1 month from start to finish for a new claim, so hopefully you won't be waiting long.0 -
There time scale was return form back by the 06/10/23 I returned it start of October 23 ans they stopped it on the 27/09/23 this is where all the confusion is and there mistake which they admitted0
-
@Gooner0605
That sounds so wrong!
Hopefully they will back pay it once they pull their finger out.
Makes no sense to stop it a week before your return deadline0 -
The case worker said 6 weeks minimum with no assessment 4/6 months with an assessment0

Had a three way call with pip and mcmillian who helped me with it and pip have now reinstated my pip reward and told us it wasn't cancelled its was put on hold hmmmm you sent me a letter saying it been cancelled on the 27/09/23 and on the phone when I called wouldn't answer to that just said its done and then left the call but anyway there saying 4/6 weeks without a assessment and 4/6 months with an assessment so now will just have to wait thanks for everyone's help0
