You can choose a phone or video call hearing with the online form. I think waiting times may vary, so can't give a conclusive answer on that one, sorry,

Yes, you can request it online here. https://www.gov.uk/appeal-benefit-decision/submit-appeal Yes, you can request the hearing to be through telephone, rather than appear in person. Or video call. Either of those will give you a 68% chance of a decision in your favour.

Waiting times could be at least several months, potentially longer. Unless you have an offer of an award before the hearing but it's rare they do this so please don't expect it.

Thank you both I have done the appeal on that link, I have just received this text..

Your PIP appeal has been lodged. Appeal reference number: —-

DWP has to respond to your appeal by 14 November 2023. You'll receive an update which explains what happens next when they've responded. You don't have to do anything.

    PIP Appeals
To stop these texts, call 0300 123 1142

Why would dwp have to contact me or is this what happens?

They won't contact you directly. They need to respond to the appeal by that date and send their response to HMCTS. You will then receive everything in the "bundle" it will be a large file which will include everything you sent to support your claim, including the form, assessment, MR letter and all evidence, including DWPs response.

Before DWP respond they will review your case again. They don't always respond by the deadline so please be aware of that. If they don't respond HMCTS will extend that deadline, if they still don't respond, nothing happens and your hearing will continue as normal. They usually respond eventually.

Hey @river123, you've already been shown where to input your appeal so instead I'm gonna try and signpost places to help with your appeal and knowledge of the appeal process!

This Citizen's Advice page will help you in filling out the appeal form, important contact numbers and other bits of information.

This further page goes into the actual tribunal itself, so it hopefully seems a touch less daunting and helps clear up anything you aren't sure about!
