PIP award

Hi everyone. I wanted to share my PIP journey to hopefully help /give others hope of success.
I put in my claim for PIP in Feb 2023 and got an assessment date through within about 8 weeks. However I couldn’t face the process and cancelled. I wasn’t going to try again but mustered the energy to pick up the phone and ask for another go. I had a telephone assessment on mid sept and had a phone call today from DWP to say she had awarded me PIP. Im happy to answer any questions surrounding the assessment itself and after etc if it helps . I honestly didn’t think I’d be awarded it but carried on in hope.

Hey @haytchC, welcome to our community (or welcome to posting!). We're always really glad to hear about the success stories
Was there anything in particular that made you try a second time? Or anything here (or elsewhere) that really helped with the form filling or preparing for the assessment?0 -
Hi 👋🏼 I’d gone through so much effort to fill in the forms ( I didn’t look for hep on filling it in I just wrote completely honestly about each point ) I found it too stressful looking at hint and tips as such. The forum here helped me understand what to expect on the actual assessment ( which was telephone based) and what happens after timescales etc. The waiting really is awful.0

The waiting can be the worst, gives you time for the anxiety to run through your head and build the assessment up into this awful thing that is harder to get over than the actual assessment itself sometimes!1
