I am currently awarded higher for both aspects of pip. Due to end April 2026.
I’ve now been diagnosed with a cyst in my spine (tarlov cyst) which has impacted my mobility and day to day life further.
Couple of questions:
1. Should I contact pip and inform them of this
2. does anyone else suffer with this cyst?

I’m sure that wouldn’t be the case, but hopefully @chiarieds, Poppy or others can advise.abbeyv95 said:Thanks @Leigh14. That’s what I thought but I did wonder if I didn’t declare now, would they then question when it came to the review?
The two members I’ve mentioned would be my first call for help lol.1 -
Hi @abbeym395 - @Leigh14 is quite correct that as you already get the enhanced rate of both PIP components, there would be no point in you informing the DWP. People worry that they need to report any new diagnoses, but that's not the case, these are not changes you have to report. The only benefit would be if a person's disability had worsened sufficiently that it impacted on their daily living/mobility such that it was felt sufficient points may be awarded to add or increase an award from standard to enhanced.I'm sorry you have a Tarlov cyst, something that can occur with my neurological problems due to Chiari1 Malformation. As Leigh says, just mention this when you're next reviewed, & there won't be any problem.2

If you report changes now then you will be sent more forms to fill in and return and another assessment is most likely. For this reason i'm so glad you asked here before reporting changes.
