Having the report though can be helpful when writing up your Mandatory Reconsideration if that is something you need to do however. 

You do have a month from the decision to submit an MR (you can submit one after the month as well, it is not a firm deadline), so you have plenty of time after getting a decision to request the report. Waiting till after the decision saves you having all that worry and anxiety and you get the outcome you want anyway.

I will leave getting the report then as I am easily stressed and quick to panic and overthink. Even now I’m overthinking and full of anxiety - they’re doing the paper based review but it’s takin a long time it seems, the 26th was when the assessment was scheduled to happen before I requested a paper review. They still haven’t completed the assessment, does it usually take a long time?

Its all taken such a long time, I originally made the phone call to apply for pip in September 2022 so over a year ago, and the assessment hasn’t even been done yet. Honestly I ant describe the amount of anxiety it’s caused.

So I've spoken to capita and they're waiting on a factual report to be returned by my GP, I have spoken to my GP but they've not received it from them. I called capita back and they've sent another request to my GP for a factual report.

Very frustrating. Also I'm.stressing about what they will gleen from this factual report - my GP doesn't know a fat lot about my day to day living other than I am alcohol dependant, have severe anxiety and depression, paranoia and that I don't leave my flat and the medication I am on. I rarely see him aside from medication reviews and even then he seems to focus on my alcohol dependency at the detriment of what else I am coping with.

Gosh I half wish I'd never started.

Hi @justme6263 - I'm also hoping you hear back soon, but it can take anything from 2-12 weeks to get your decision letter. You don't actually need the assessor's report should you wish to do a MR, as your decision letter will show any points awarded (& the assessor's report is just a recommendation).

Hi,

just wanted to update people as to you’ve all been such a help. I received a phone call today from the Decision Maker on my claim and she informed me that she had made the decision and I’ll be in receipt of enhanced daily living and standard mobility - which is exactly what I thought I’d be entitled to.

She told me that I was due a substantial backdated payment too, and checked my bank details and informed me it would be released as soon as her manager had done a ‘payment check’. Does anybody know what this is or how long it takes?

The backdated pay is from 12/09/2022 which I have worked out at around 7.6k. Is this amount correct? I’ve also asked that it be paid in instalments.

To say this is a relief and a massive weight off my shoulders in an understatement. Truly I’m so grateful it is done and they agree that I am eligible. I was so nervous for so long.

Great news! I must admit that you were waiting a very long time for a decision if they owe you from Sept 2022. First time claims are usually much quicker.

As for how much they will owe you then you will need to wait for the decision letter because you will be owed last years rate before 11th April 2023 and this years rates after that. 

Thank you everyone, it really is a relief. Im just wondering how long it normally takes to receive any backdated money owed once you receive the text saying “you’ve been awarded pip - decision letter in the post”?

My backpay came through fairly quickly once I received the award letter.  Make sure you treat yourself a bit if you can.

Hi Albus! Thanks for the reply - honestly this decision has came at the most needed time for me. I suffer with anxiety and multiple substance addictions, I never leave the flat and my Mom does basically everything for me. Due to my almost agoraphobic levels of anxiety, paranoia and difficulties in community due to Tourette’s rehab has never been an option for me. However, I’ve found a private rehab coach who offers subsidised, at home (face to face or online) and one to one rehab. All the stuff you do at a residential rehab but just at your own home. I’ve been speaking to him and I think I am going to try that. I need to do something because it’s getting worse and not better.
