Hello everyone. I'm Sweetiepie, I'm new. Need power-chair friendly flooring

I need to replace my living room carpet with powerchair-friendly, hard flooring. I need something slip-resistant and scratch-resistant, that won't buckle under the weight of a powerchair. Does anyone know whether laminate would be an option? Does every carpet store supply and install accessible flooring? I really have no idea where to start my search, so I was wondering whether anyone has any ideas please? Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

    Hey @Sweetiepie, welcome to our community :) I hope you're doing well today, hopefully we can find a good answer to your question!

    Can I ask if you own your home or if you rent it privately/it's local authority housing? In the meantime I'm going to look into this a little, I've never answered this question before! 

    I'm also going to move this into our adaptations section, it should hopefully be more visible to people with home knowledge there :)

    Hello Jim. Thank you for your reply, challenging day, sorry for being unable to return to the discussion sooner.

    I'm joint home owner with my sister, we live in a bungalow.

    Hi @Sweetiepie -  & welcome to the community from me also. I'd think a good quality laminate or vinyl would work. Karndean is one I'd consider: https://www.karndean.com/en-gb/floors/discover-karndean/ tho best to get a fitter who's knowledgeable about this, & it is quite expensive to both buy & fit.
    I'd also consider contacting Howdens, as I can also vouch for their good quality laminates, & they should also put you in touch with an installer they recommend: https://www.howdens.com/joinery/floors/flooring?flooring_type=Laminate   they also have other flooring including vinyls.
    I would consider speaking to such experts first, tho there's likely others.

    Hi @Chiarieds. Many thanks for your comment, I've not heard of Karndean before, and I had no idea that Howdens did flooring. Both sound like an excellent starting point, as I do worry about getting the right product and installer. I really appreciate the links, I'm about to check them out now.
