Petition for toilets in NHS hospitals to be fully accessible for patients and disabled staff

    The rules are already there- it's compliance that's the problem. 

    I complained for SIX years- yes, six- about two things: the wheelchair transfer space being used to hold everything BUT a wheelchair (like massive bins, cleaning supplies, etc) and second, macramé classes using the pull cords. 

    You could do a freedom of information request to ask about audit results, you could ask to see the tools they use to audit accessibility of the hospital environment. You could contact different trusts and ask about their policies on accessibility.

    Then, contact RCNi (Royal College of Nursing Publishing) and Nursing Times, and work with them to write an article for the nursing press where you discuss your petition and why you are doing it. You could discuss how lack of access makes people feel undervalued. Maybe by helping nurses and other staff understand, even if it doesn't get more signatures it could help solve the problem.

    My petition closed last month, thanks though. I'm not campaigning about this issue currently because I'm back at university studying computer science. Also I worked in the pharmacy profession, not nursing.

    Complain to your hospital pals service they are the ones to deal with the right people at their end. Also, they should know about keeping things clear for their patients.
