'Hypocrite' Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg got £16,800 severance pay for job he had just seven weeks

I bet this raises a few PM Question time questions ...
After arguing that civil servants' redundancy pay should be cut by 25%, North East Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg received more than £16,000 in severance pay for a role he held for less than two months. When Liz Truss was forced to quit as Prime Minister, Mr Rees-Mogg left the Govenment and claimed three months' salary, despite having only worked for seven weeks as Secretary of State for Business.
It meant that he pocketed a total of £16,800 in severance pay. Previously, as Government Efficiency Minister, he planned to cut the amount of redundancy pay for departing civil servants from four weeks’ salary per year of service to three. Claiming his full severance payout has resulted in an accusation of hypocrisy from Labour.Mr Rees-Mogg, who now trousers more than £750 an hour as a presenter on GB News on top of his £80,000 MPs salary, said that changes to redundancy payments would “create significant savings on the current cost of exits,”

I'll also point out, they have the right to waive the payment and not accept it. It's only under 3 weeks of being in the job that they don't receive the severance pay, which is 1/4 the annual wage under the Ministerial and other Pensions and Salaries Act 1991.
Theoretically they could work 1 day over 3 weeks and get 3 months worth of pay if they get replaced.
Currently ministers earn £67,505 on top of their £80k MP wage, 1/4 of that is about £16,800.1 -

While I am not a fan of many things about the American system, my exposure to it through my partner shows how many checks and balances they have on many things. We have very few checks on abuses and power. The system here has worked on the assumption that people in government would be working for the country, and if they did anything wrong they would resign from the shame of it. A "gentleman" system where we expect everyone in it to behave like "gentlemen" of old.
It's just not working at the moment.2 -

There is more than enough money land and food for everyone but the problem is too many are taking too much and leaving nothing for anyone else1 -
