Anyone else concerned about the storm that's going to hit SW England tonight/tomorrow ?

    Lucky enough to live on a hill.

    Though, if the rain is heavy enough it does run down the hill and under our garage door a little. Also, still waiting on the landlord to clean the guttering. It's overdue and we asked it a month ago before the heavy rains started.


    Hope everyone stays safe though. Sure we don't get typhoons or hurricanes (at least we 'technically' don't get hurricanes) but flooding and winds can still be very dangerous.

    Our local water  board has been issuing text warnings.  I live on a slope, so hopefully I'll mostly be ok, but I am a bit worried the garden wont survive. At least we got the huge eucalyptus tree cut back in the summer, so less chance of branches falling on the shed. 

     I hope everyone stays warm and safe!

    Same here - I received a txt from my water company yesterday and also one from my power company - first time ever - they are obviously concerned

    It's good they're taking it seriously though.  Even friends' work have informed them to work from home for the rest of the week.  It's much better than things going horribly wrong for someone.

    Everyone thinks "oh it's just a bit of rain, so what!", until it's the river by your house that's broken it's banks and you've not considered any preparations! 

    Should always be prepared if you know you live in a flood-risk area.

    I got notification from my local council which was weird and unexpected since how did they get my detail?

    Anyway - the storm was a little bit of a damp squib for us - Yes we had a little bit of rain the previous night and the wind was a little bit annoying - but nowhere near the predicted "end of the world" strength!
    And the local area, did get it pretty bad (floods and trees down etc) - so it was extremely localised

    I have friends in Guernsey, they lost the roof of their house to that storm, so I'm glad they did take things seriously and let everyone know to be careful.
