Unsuitable vehicles on Motability

I’m an ambulant wheelchair user. I can’t find a car big enough to store my wheelchair, front wheel adaptation and my dogs. So I am now looking at a WAV but I don’t want to be a passenger in my wheelchair and I don’t want to drive from my wheelchair. There doesn’t seem to be an option for me, or maybe I am wrong? I have had test drives in the VW combi and other vans but the driver seats are really uncomfortable which would limit how much and how long I can drive. That’s why I drive an SUV because it absorbs the uneven road surfaces etc. Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do? Unfortunately I’m not able to get finance so I am tied to the Motability scheme.

    You do not have to drive a WAV from your wheelchair. You can store it in the back and drive as normal. Have a look on YouTube at some videos for WAVS. 

    How about a Peugeot 3008 they have rather large boot because I used to have one. Same for the Kia Niro, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga, all of those have rather large boots.

    It might be worth visiting a motability roadshow if you can, or search for a WAV dealer which stocks different manufacturers, so you can get information about your options. I don't know where you live, but there is one in Lancashire which stocks different 'brands' and also used vehicles.  You need to see a specialist firm rather than a main dealer who has motability as a side line.
