Hi everyone, I recently put in my first claim for PIP 28/09/23 due to level of care needs I have as I am partially sighted, ASD, agoraphobic, Parkinsonism and complex PTSD. IAS texted me on 30/10/23 to say they have received my form and will contact me if they need further information or if an assessment is required. I haven't yet received notice of when my assessment is to take place which has left me a little alarmed, I have rang IAS to ask them if or when a date for an assessment has been booked in yet but the person on the phone said my application was with a decision maker at IAS and were awaiting some reports from my GP, they said that it may be that my claim is to be a paper based assessment however the person on the phone said that if I am to require an assessment they would allow me some time before the assessment would take place however he said 'it may be that we have enough supporting evidence to make a decision based on the form' but he couldn't tell me or not if a paper base assessment is what they are intending on doing? They've had my claim for 3 weeks now,was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position? I I haven't left the house in a number of years now, so the idea of a face to face assessment has been looming over me over the recent weeks as I struggle with crippling hypervigilance, so leaving the house I find being too much of a sensory overload for me. x

As your file is still with IAS then it won’t be with a decision maker because they work for DWP and not IAS.Yes it is possible for anyone to have a paper based assessment if there enough of information to write the report without an assessment, though it’s rare.Once the report is written it will be returned to DWP and then a decision maker will take a look at everything you sent and then make a decision. A decision can take up to 12 weeks from that point. As your file has only been with then for 3 weeks then that’s not a lot of time to be honest. If an assessment is needed you can request a telephone assessment instead of a face to face one. All you can do now is wait.1
