Awarded PIP - Very Quickly

Hi there, so my son has a retinal conditional that's degenerative and now into  his mid 40s it's got to the point it's effecting his ability to work, and so we applied for PIP for him.

The application date was on the 15/09, he had a phone assessment on the 06/12, and we received a text today saying it's been awarded (so less than 9 days).

Is that quick? The text did say to allow 8 weeks for it, and the assessor said it'd be at least 6 too at the moment.

Whilst I'm clearly overjoyed it does seem weirdly fast and just curious of anyone else has experienced this? Is there some kind of fast lane for certain conditions?

    Thanks for the welcome! And for the response, that's good to hear. I hope that they got the bank details right - the lady who took the initial application had some trouble with the Yorkshire accent and we had to tell her the a/c and sort code about twelve times :)

    I don't remember them being on the form - we did it online. It might have been, I just can't recall. 
    I'm fairly sure the lass got it right in the end but it took ten or twelve confirmations. 

    I'm sure it'll be fine, these days the account and sort are matched against names too not like in the old days when it was just the account number and sort code!

    Did you put them on the application form ? if so she was just double checking to make sure they hadn't changed

    They don't ask you for bank details on the PIP2 form, whether that's the paper or digital verson. They ask for bank details when you ring to start your claim, as this is part of the PIP1 process.
