Hello to scope online community
I use a golf ball to control my electric wheelchair but has gotten worse because if I grip the golf ball for too long I get pain wrist as sometime I may go on long walks with family members I have an appointment with my local wheelchair services later on this morning I just so worried and scared about it because incase they decided to take the chair off and lose my independence and freedom
I would appreciate to hearing if any has been through a similar situations  :'(

I haven't been in that situation but would be totally lost if I was. Hopefully, wheelchair services will come up with an idea to help as it may have been a problem they've seen before. I doubt they'd take the chair from you, maybe you could try a wrist support, that may help if they can't come up with something. Good luck with it.

I think JessieJ's suggestion is a good thing to ask about @Globster. Perhaps you could tell the team how worried you are about losing your wheelchair, I'm sure they'd be happy to help you think of some solutions so you can stay independent :)

I hope it goes well, let us know how you get on!

100% agree the position of holding your hand extended like that, getting cold, getting knocked by passers by and doorframes, and getting tired out, is a silly idea, proving wheelchair designers are not wheelchair users.
The central handlebar system for a bike or a mobility scooter is far better, as it does note tire out one hand, and it is a more natural human position, when doing something with the hands, to hold whatever it is  central to the body, and fairly close.

Team Hybrid and many others do make human-friedly designs.  Some are pretty powerful, can deal with rougher terrain, and work just by using a pair of 'motorbike' handlebars on a single leading wheel, which carries a strong battery. That can be fixed to a cross bar, lifting the front of a lightweight manual wheelchair, therefore easy to dismantle and lift for transport. And with pop on wheels, the chair can be have thick tyres for outdoors, or thin for indoors.

But it would be a surprise if anyone in the NHS even mentions the open market options, as alternatives to whatever models the NHS has on it's list: After the NHS (or any beaurocratic system) has fixated on an idea, nothing to do with actually making life better for mere customers/users of that system will ever be allowed.

(P.S. A D.I.Y. solution, for those who have use of both hands, is absolutely not advocated.... no no no, and nobody should ever consider such a thing. Absolutely not. (Possibly, if someone lives alone on a private island, nobody would ever find out, so they could secretly dis-assemble the controller from the wheelchair arm, and find a method of placing it in a more comfortable position, where, with practice, they would be able to swap hands at times, and let the cold hand have a warm break on a hand warmer....  silly idea, and I'm sure nobody would do such a naughty thing, even on a private island, merely for the pointless luxury of actually being able to use their wheelchair. I would never advocate such a thing, and Scope, I'm sure, would be horrified to imagine it, so if they notice it they will delete the post, so I just hope they miss it, hidden away here in a postscript bracket.)
