Hi, I share a tenancy with my mum - no other people in the house. I am on ESA but have not claimed any help with the rent. Am I entitled to get help with my half the rent?

Hi @Lavendar, welcome to the community. I hope you'll find it a friendly and useful place to be!
I'm afraid I'm not too sure about your question myself, but I'll pop your question over to our benefits section where more members with the right experience can find it. Hopefully they'll be along shortly to offer some advice and share their experiences with you

If you're named on the tenancy agreement then yes you can claim your share of the liability to pay rent. How is your share being paid at the moment? To claim for help with the rent then you will need to claim Universal Credit. This will then end any Income Related ESA you're claiming after 2 weeks. Are you renting privately or from social housing?0
