LCWRA back payment

Hey, i'd be happy if someone could help!

I have been giving fit notes continously since Sept 2022. I have had WCA Dec 2023 and have been awarded LCWRA in Jan 2024. Now this is the confusing part as i've been given fit notes for the last year i'm not sure if I should be getting back payment. I have been told that if I had a day or two day gap the system restarts everything. Now the last gap I had was in Jan 2022 which was 2 days a weekend. I never thought of my GP back dating the two days. Now this is what I want to find out since Jan 2022 my fit notes have had no gaps but does putting the date for the next day count as a 'gap.' The day my fit note ends I always contact my GP and they tell me that its still valid for that day so come tomorrow and the fit note would start from the next day. For example if my fit notes last day was 23rd, I get another fit note for the 24th and upload that date to UC as the 23rd counts as a valid day if that makes sense? does that mean I should still get a back payment?
Thank you in advance!!

That's a long time to wait, was this your first WCA?

The fit note ending on one day and a new one starting from the following day, is not a gap. Based on the limited information you gave your first payment would be either Jan or Feb 2023.

The exact date will depend on what date exactly you provided your first fit note and what date you usually receive your money each month.

I don't know why it took them that long for WCA but I was did one Dec 2023. I have been told else where that if I have a day gap it restarts the AP. I get paid on the 19th of each month. If like you've said the next day is not a problem then it would start from 24th Jan 2023 till now rather than Sept 2022 as the two day gap on fit note is a problem. On this bases should I expect back payment from Jan 2022 (counting 3 month AP) I don't know the calculations. It will be four weeks since being awarded lcwra and I havent heard anything

If your first fit note was in Sept 2022 then you won't receive money from Jan 2022. You can check back on your journal to see how long the gaps were. It will be down to a decision maker to decide when it's paid from due to gaps.

A fit note ending one day and your next one starting the following day, isn't a gap because a GP will not provide another until the day after your last one ended.

I can't advise without the dates I've asked for in my previous comment.

Because of the two day gap between fit notes it will start from 24th January 2023 with no gaps so lets say thats my first fit note... I get paid on every 19th
my AP is between 12th - 13th each month.
    I was awarded lcwra 6th Jan 2024

Nope my first fit note was on September 2022 but because I had 2 day gap between fit note apparently the system would not count it. so I had a gap between 22nd January 2023 - 24th January 2023. Because theres a few day gap its missed apparently because is should be consecutive. So my 'first' fit note would be from 24th January 2023 till this date for any back payment?

As it was only a 2 day gap I would like to think that a decision maker wouldn't be that harsh not to allow it. Sadly I'm not a decision maker.

There's a waiting period before the LCWRA starts. This is 3 full assessment periods and the extra money is paid from the 4th month with first payment being the end of that 4th month. It's not paid at all during this period.

If they go from Sept 2022 then your first payment will be either Jan or Feb 2023.

If they go from 24th Jan then your waiting period will be Feb 2023 to May 2023... LCWRA starts from assessment period 13th May to 12th June and first payment will be 19th June 2023.

Put a message onto your journal under the payment section and ask about the money that's owed. Money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money.

As the decision was made close to the end of your assessment period this month then this maybe why the element was included this month.

Just to add, my advice assumes you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives the LCWRA element on your claim. If they do then you won't receive any extra money.

    Thank you!!

No I don't claim with a partner and I havent recieved any lcwra payment yet its only been 4 weeks i've got the award letter. I thought I would wait 4 weeks as i've been told that it takes around that long to calculate back payment and i'll recieve a pdf letter on my journal... I havent heard of 'decision maker' because the way this person has said was that apparently it generates itself like the dates automatically and if it finds a gap it will not count it for a back payment. So I don't know if I should wait end of this week or like you said message on journal to ask if I would be recieving back payment. I'm assuming i'll get first lcwra next month.
