Hi all I received a letter today saying I have been awarded LCWRA, it just says if they owe me any money they will be in touch. Does anybody know if I am entitled to any back pay and when would I be likely to receive this? I sent UC my very first fit note on 6th September 2023 and my assessment period is between the 9th and 10th of every month, thanks.

Assuming there were no gaps in your fit notes your waiting period will be Sept to Dec.. LCWRA starts from AP 10th Dec to 9th Jan and first payment will be 15th Jan. This means up to now they owe you 1 months LCWRA element.
Money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money and often takes quite a few weeks to pay it.1 -
Thanks poppy1

Hi all, an update, I have been told that I am getting no back pay and my award starts from the 11th November so my first payment is 11th march, is this right? I handed my first fit note in on sep 6th and there are no gaps at all0

No, this isn't correct based on the information you gave. The correct advice is as I gave here.poppy123456 said:Assuming there were no gaps in your fit notes your waiting period will be Sept to Dec.. I’ve just checked poppy and for whatever reason I didn’t give them my sept sick note until November so yes this decision is right, gutted0

That's what I thought. Although they accept the backdated fit note at the time, they don't usually accept it when determining when the waiting period starts. This will start from the date you reported it.
Can you please tell me the actual date you reported it and I will tell you when exactly your first payment will be.0 -
Hi poppy, sorry for the late reply, I reported it on the 13th november0

If your AP are 10th to 9th of every month. The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and 13th November is after the start of that AP so that month doesn't count.
Your waiting period will be Dec to March.. LCWRA starts from AP 10th March to 9th April and first payment will be 16th April.
This is because it starts from the 4th month, with first payment being the end of that month because UC is paid in arrears.0 -
Hi poppy for some reason I have just had a message in my journal saying the decision maker has reviewed my case and decided that my award starts from the 20/10/23 but it gives no details on payments or anything else0

You will still have the waiting period which is 3 full assessment periods. Your first payment will be 16th March 2024.0
