hi I'm Dawn new to here just anted to know if work decide to finish me which I think they will,do I claim esa, I am getting confused with it all I'm waiting to hear back from pip someone helped me fill that. I've been on sick since middle of May this year due to a bad illness got meniningjitis pnuemoccial ,a brain absess and a stroke all together, a big shock to the system at age 55. So trying to sort my life out at moment,I have a partner who has been great. And am getting sick notes at moment. .the other thing is whilst I'm on sick can I get help with the dentist I've got no proof to show anyone. Any help or advice be great thanks Dawn

    Hi mumof 3boys, the doctors I'm under are more than willing to give me copies of everything, I'm under quite a few I think I was a bit of a mystery at the time.you said free everything as I have no dependent children ,do I fill in I am  exempt because last time went to dentist was told have to an exemption card,I haven't got one

    Hi @dawnie55,

    Sorry to hear what you've been through this year with your health. 
    If your employer decides to end your employment and your SSP has run out you can make a claim for contributory ESA of which entitlement is based on your national insurance contributions. There is also income related ESA but this type is means tested and it will take into account your partner's earnings. 

    Before you look at all of that though, you have rights as an employee so if your employer decides that they want to dismiss you on medical grounds, I would definitely recommend seeking some advice from ACAS first to make sure you know what your rights are.

    @mumof3boys has kindly posted a link above about help with health costs. There are a few options here, medical exepmtion certificate, Low Income Scheme, pre-payment certificates. I hope you found it helpful.
