PIP/LCWRA spare room

Hello, i am on standard rate for daily living and enhanced rate for mobility on PIP.i recieved a message on my journal asking if i needed a extra room for a carer. does this mean that i could extra money for the extra room and would it get back dated if so for how long i have been on PIP since April 2022.

    If you're renting from social housing and affected by the bedroom tax then yes you can claim for an extra bedroom. This will only apply if you need overnight care on a regular basis. Same applies if you're renting privately. 

    If entitled then it can be backdated to the assessment period in which your PIP started.

    Hello There, how will know if im entitled to the room and roughly hw long would the backdated payment take?

    They will upload a decision letter onto your journal. Decision timescale usually up to about 12 weeks but very often much sooner.
