my good afternoon,
my son has been awarded pip. After attending a review panel.
he received a letter a week ago stating he had been awarded the lower rate DLA. and it says backdated until July 2021. When should he expect to be paid. Either the back payment or a payment going forward.  Thank you

    You mention both PIP and DLA but he wouldn't be able to claim both. If under 16 it will be DLA if 16 or over then PIP.

    That's an awful long time to wait for a decision, was the decision made by a Tribunal or DWP? The reason I'm asking is because the answer will depend on who made the award.

    They made a dision quite quick after the tribunal.  However he is waiting for payment to be made. He was asking on average how long before he gets any payment after his decision letter.

    If the decision letter he received was from the Tribunal then it can take anything up to 8 weeks for DWP to put the award into payment and pay what is owed. Money owed will be first and then 4 weeks later he will receive his first 4 weekly payment. PIP will also send out an award letter.

    Hello @pontshannon Welcome to the community! :) I'm so glad to hear he was awarded! Wow, 2021?! Must feel such a relief after waiting so long.

    Thank you Hanna,   Yes it’s been a long process. Refused at first then appealed
    and went to tribunal. Which was quite scarey, didn’t think we would get it. But a letter arrived a week later. Saying yes you are awarded.
    just waiting to hear when we will get payment.  X

    @pontshannon I'm so happy for you. I hope you celebrated! I always say you can't go wrong with a slice of cake <3 Hopefully it won't be too long a wait to hear on payment.
